galactica season 4 preview

The writers’ strike is finally over, and the fourth, final season of Battlestar Galactica is closing on the horizon less than a month away – the premiere debuting on Friday, April 4th. I’d been slighly reserved during the strike given the uncertain future of the final season – but this recent preview clip from Hypaspace has me in full-tilt fanboy mode now. Frackin’ A!

Galactica = the best show on TV, no question about it. It’s rare to find a sci-fi show that doesn’t lean completely on trickery and special effects, and completely masks it’s own genre with stellar writing, supporting flawed yet brilliant characters portrayed by some top-notch talent. And I say that as someone who felt the original ’70s version sucked harder than a black hole, no less- it was no small feat to turn me around to BSG.

It’s not just a glimmer on the horizon anymore, the Adobe Media Player prerelease is now available on Labs. A fine way to navigate your favorite video assets and streaming channels with style in a well-done AIR application. As expected, it’s hardware-accelerated and down with the H.264-izzle. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to use AMP myself and bog down a bit ‘o broadband at the homestead.

Wanna get your mug up on the big screen at MAX this year? Enthusiasm about the CS3 launch has you warm and fuzzy, but anxious and jittery? Well, we’ve just the outlet for you hardcores to let off some steam.

Between August 24th and 28th Adobe will be shooting on-camera interviews of Adobe software enthusiasts, talking about the software and work they love, for a video to be shown at the MAX conference in Chicago. If selected, you’d only be needed for one of those days (individual shoots will range between 1 to 2 hours maximum, FYI). If you want to be considered for this big-screen appearance you just have to drop a note to ‘adobecast@yahoo.com’ providing:

Your occupation
What Adobe products you use
A recent photo or two of yourself
Contact information
